The Base group acts in the Clinical Analysis area under the BMAC brand, in the Imaging and Gastroenterology area under the SMIC and Dr. Campos Costa brands and in the Cardiology area under the Cardioteste brand.
BMAC – Clynical Analysis is Northern Portugal’s largest operator and one of the three largest in Portugal, including the oldest laboratory in the Iberian Peninsula. In addition to the traditional sectors of Clinical Pathology, it has become increasing specialized in a set of differentiating techniques directed to certain specific clusters.

The development of partnerships with institutions of reference has given the brand prominence in the field of Medical Imaging, namely in the areas of Radiology, Neuroradiology, Intervention Radiology, Teleradiology and Nuclear Medicine.
Digestive endoscopy is the group’s most recent bet in the area of gastroenterology and has been made available in some of the previous diagnostic centers. These are fully equipped units in the network Dr. Campos Costa and SMIC distributed throughout the districts of Porto, Lisbon, Braga and Aveiro, with a team of 50 fully dedicated physicians.

Cardioteste began to develop its activity of cardiovascular diseases prevention, diagnosis and treatment in Lisbon, where it now has the largest non-invasive cardiology center in Portugal. In Oporto, an Interventional Cardiology Center was created recently, where the 1st TAVI (implantation of percutaneous aortic valve prosthesis) was performed in a private unit in the North of Portugal.
This technique is aimed towards elderly coronary patients (+70).
